GATTACA - Design Approach
Essentially, the world of Gattaca suggests that technology does not overpower our lives visually unlike other stereotypical science fiction. The challenge is to merge and create a subtle yet futuristic world by using some common components of the past and present. I pictured a world which assumes Retrofuturism. This Retrofuturism dominated the overall look in this “not-too-distant future”. In addition, I enhanced the isolation of Eugene’s world with a touch of Brutalism in the architecture. That allows me to juxtapose Metabolism, which is a perfect fit for the world of “invalids”. An invalid is a person that is a 'faith birth' or naturally conceived, not via genetical engineering as they are the lowest class in the story.

How Does Advanced
Biotechnology Translate
Into The Environment ?
If human genes could be engineered one day, what about molecular structure for objects such as architectural materials? Would it be possible for us to fabricate gigantic pieces of tempered glass or produce tremendous width of lumber to advance our architectural use of material? Would the boundaries between artificial and natural material be merged?
