About me
Hogan Lee was born and raised in Taiwan—a liberal Mandarin-speaking country that was heavily influenced by Japanese and American culture. He studied at the Fu Jen Catholic University in Taiwan, and at the age of 20, began his art education by studying abroad at the University of Hawaii. His Taiwanese upbringing was paramount in the shaping of his interests and approaches to production design, and, it was there that he first began his film career, where he held positions within the Set Decoration departments of films including Life of Pi (2012), Lucy (2014) and Silence (2016).
Hogan pursued an MFA in Production Design in Los Angeles, at UCLA’s School of Theater, Film, and Television, which he received in 2018. Academically and artistically, Hogan worked to hone an aesthetic idea predicated on the combination of glamor and mystery with unconventional politics. In addition, he finds visual storytelling to be a timeless practice, and he believes that respect and egalitarianism within the work environment can be a central part of a dynamic, creative process.
Most recently, Hogan has worked as an Assistant Art Director / Set Designer in the Art Directors Guild on a range of new projects in Los Angeles, including an upcoming DC feature film by Todd Phillips, Joker 2: Folie à Deux (2024).
